Buying or selling a house can be a fairly hectic and stressful time. There are so many moving parts, and those parts can change quickly, leaving you with no time to catch your breath. It’s important to have trusted partners walking with you through all the various steps in the process. Here’s what you can expect during a home inspection with Accuspect Inspections:

What Happens During a Home Inspection

A Full Visual Examination

Our team will report any major and obvious defects in components, materials, and installation. It’s best if you are present during the two- to three-hour inspection so that you can ask questions and see clearly any areas needing attention. It includes, but is not limited to, the inspection of the following:

Systems

  • Heating system
  • Central air conditioning system
  • Interior plumbing
  • Electrical systems

Exterior Systems

  • Roof
  • Porches
  • Decks and patios
  • Surface water control
  • Visible exterior of home

Interior Structures

  • Attic
  • Visible insulation
  • Walls
  • Ceilings
  • Floors
  • Windows and doors
  • Foundation
  • Basement
  • Accessible crawl space
  • Fireplaces and chimneys
  • Visible interior of home

Things You Can Do to Prep

Because the home inspector needs to have visual access to all areas of the house, take time to ensure access by removing trash and excess brush outside your home, removing clutter on the floors or that might be blocking access to areas, and unlocking any doors you normally keep locked. Also, it would be best to remove or secure your pets, and consider finding childcare if you have young children. (Click here for more tips on prepping before the home inspection.)
